A Fresh Look at Heaven

Heaven is a distorted subject. It is found in ancient myths, diluted by Hollywood and mocked by skeptics. In general, most people believe they are going there. At funerals the loved one is eulogized as being “in a better place”, or that “they will not suffer anymore”. In reality, heaven is exclusively prepared for those who believe in Jesus (John 14:1-6). It is accessible to those who believe, by the grace of God (Ephesians 2:8-9). It has been said, “There will be three things which will surprise us when we get to heaven; one, to find many there that we did not expect to find there; another, to find some not there whom we had expected; a third, and perhaps the greatest wonder, will be to find ourselves there.”

Revelation 5:6-8
6 And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth.
7 Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.
8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
