Nostalgia

7 07 2010

It’s been a good week; one of reflection, anticipation, and living the moment. My youngest son gave his heart and life in marriage to a wonderful young woman on Saturday. I officiated the service. A unique experience to a person given to the sentimental. I wrote a poem as I contemplated his 27 years on earth and the joy of watching him grow into a man who had made his dad proud. My daughter read it to spare me the emotional outburst that was inevitable. It’s been a good week since the wedding. Nostalgia is often a friend that takes you to places in your mind leading you to a warm sense of gratitude, love, and purpose. Life has a way of awaking us to reality, but nostalgia is a relaxing vacation.

“The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.” Psalm 16:6
